About the SAT

Micro Test

Our Micro test consists of 5 Quantitative (Math) questions and 5 Verbal (English) questions. You have 20 minutes for this test. We do not provide score estimates for micro tests.

Mini Test

Our Mini test will simulate the SAT in about half the time and half the questions. You will get a rough score estimate at the end of the test.

Full length Test

Our Full test simulates the real SAT's Quantitative (Math) and Verbal (English) sections. Each section takes 75 minutes and contains approximately 40 questions. This test will give you the best score estimation.

Why the SAT

Why is the SAT exam the test of choice among students and professionals worldwide?

Accepted by more than 6,000 business and management programs worldwide, for nearly 60 years, the SAT exam has been the test of choice by the world’s business leaders to get into the world’s leading business schools.

It is a computer adaptive test (CAT) intended to assess certain analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal, and reading skills in written English for use in admission to a graduate management program, such as an MBA.

The SAT does not measure business knowledge or skill, nor does it measure intelligence. According to the test owning company, the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the SAT assesses skills such as analytical writing, problem-solving, logic and critical reasoning skills that it believes to be vital to real-world business and management success.

Importance for Schools

Why schools trust and prefer the SAT exam?

Business schools use the test as a criterion for admission into a wide range of graduate management programs, including MBA, Master of Accountancy, and Master of Finance programs.

Director of MBA Admissions have tremendous confidence in the SAT because the Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC) constantly evaluates and validates the SAT as a predictor of MBA academic performance. SAT’s validation assessments are shared with schools directly (for the schools that participate) so that each Admissions Committee can confirm that the SAT provides accurate predictive data for their particular program. The GMAC Validation Studies provide hard data in the highly quantitative business school environment.

Test takers have 30 minutes for the AWA and another 30 minutes to work through 12 questions on the IR section.

How to register for the Exam

The SAT exam is available around the world throughout the year.
It can be taken more than once, but the student must wait 31 calendar days before taking the exam again, and he/she can retake it a maximum of five times in a 12-month period.

Registration is independent from the MBA Center. A student has to register for the exam on the GMAC website on the following link:

http://www.mba.com/global/the-SAT-exam/register.aspx

The Scheduling Fee of US$250.00 is to be paid through the GMAC website per credit card.

Admissions deadlines for graduate business programs vary. Check with the schools you are interested in attending and set up your SAT exam ahead of time to ensure your scores are reported prior to application deadlines.

Format and timing

The SAT exam consists of four sections:

  • Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) - 30 minutes
  • Integrated Reasoning (IR) - 30 minutes
  • The quantitative section - 75 minutes
  • The verbal section - 75 minutes

Analytical Writing Assessment

The Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) measures your ability to think critically and to communicate your ideas. During the AWA, you are asked to analyze the reasoning behind a given argument and write a critique of that argument.

The analytical writing assessment is graded on a scale of 1 (the minimum) to 6 (the maximum) in half-point intervals.

Integrated Reasoning

Integrated Reasoning (IR) measures a test taker’s ability to evaluate data presented in multiple formats from multiple sources.

The integrated reasoning section consists of 12 questions (which often consists of multiple parts themselves) in four different formats:

  • Graphics interpretation
  • Two-part analysis
  • Table analysis
  • Multi-source reasoning

Integrated reasoning scores range from 1-8. Performance on the IR and AWA sections do not contribute to the total SAT score.

Quantitative Section

The Quantitative section measures your ability to analyze data and draw conclusions using reasoning skills. Questions require knowledge of certain algebra, geometry, and arithmetic.

The Quantitative section consists of 37 questions in two different formats:

  • Data Sufficiency (DS)
  • Problem Solving (PS)

Problem solving questions are designed to test the ability to reason quantitatively and to solve quantitative problems.

Data sufficiency is a question type unique to the SAT designed to measure the ability to understand and analyze a quantitative problem, recognize what information is relevant or irrelevant and determine at what point there is enough information to solve a problem or recognize the fact that there is insufficient information given to solve a particular problem.

Verbal Section

The verbal section of the SAT Exam seeks to measure the test taker's ability to read and comprehend written material, reason and evaluate arguments and correct written material to express ideas effectively in standard written English.

The Verbal section consists of 41 questions in three different formats:

  • Reading Comprehension (RC): passages accompanied by interpretive, applied, and inference questions
  • Critical reasoning (CR): questions designed to test the reasoning skills involved in makingarguments, evaluating arguments, and formulating or evaluating a plan of action
  • Sentence Correction: questions from which the test taker must select the most effective construction which expresses the intent of the sentence clearly and concisely
